Why Is It Named Klotho?

The Origin of the Name

The Klotho gene was named after Clotho (Klotho), one of the Three Fates in Greek mythology, who were believed to control the destiny and lifespan of every human being.

In Greek Mythology:

  • Clotho (Klotho) spins the thread of life, symbolizing the beginning of life.
  • Lachesis measures the length of the thread, determining the span of life.
  • Atropos cuts the thread, marking the end of life.

Clotho's role as the spinner of the thread of life represents the creation and regulation of life itself.
